Shows that changed the game

These are the shows that I watch over and over again, I’ve memorized the directors (hello Michelle MacLaren), the writers (David Fury, Damon Lindelof, Vince Gilligan), and my favorite episodes (Ozymandias, The Contest, all of season 4 of The Wire).

Starters

The Haunting of Hill House
The worst episode is the first one. It only gets better after that.

The Good Place

Learn Philsophy and watch a great cast at the same time.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine
OMG, I can’t believe I’m such an Amy. Watch Glory, then watch this and let me know what you think of Andre Braugher.

Sherlock
I can’t and can believe how much everyone blew up after this show. Also, I love crazy detectives. I love Moriarty the best though (listen to Billie Eilish’s ‘You Should See me in a Crown’)

The Outsider
How a Stephen King story should be done, tv-style.

Love Life
One of the most accurate portrayals of relationships in the city I’ve seen.

Mains

Watchmen
Chicken cooked in Riesling with onions, mushrooms and herbs
$25.50

The Wire
Traditional Provençal fish stew, with shrimp, mussels, clams and monkfish
$26.00

Breaking Bad
Pan-fried sole in butter and served with brown butter sauce, parsley and lemon
$28.00

The X-Files
60 days aged rib steak, pepper sauce, fondant potatoes
$31.00

Atlanta
Roasted duck breast with crispy skin and velvety citrus sauce
$26.50

Six Feet Under
With goat’s cheese, rocket and baby shoot salad
$22.00

Desserts

The O.A.
Avant garde television that questions religion, plot twists and yoga poses.

Black Mirror
Terrifying technology stories that are waaaay too accurate.

Stranger Things
The Duffer brothers have created the perfect nostalgic treat for the folks who were into Winona Ryder, Ghostbusters and Alien. With a dash of Sean Astin and Poltergeist.

True Detective

Finally! A detective show that shows how painstakingly difficult it is to resolve murder cases. This and that Zodiac movie.

Catastrophe
A hilarious and, more importantly, realistic take on marriage, children and mother in laws (hello, Carrie Fisher!).

The West Wing
I learned the most about government from this show. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing but man oh man, I wish this administration existed in real life.
